I've never really been too happy with my quick work at the locations I work at...you lose a lot when you need to work fast (about 10 minutes a pic) even after doing this since '95 a few things have changed in my technique including my recently using a pencil to sketch the basic image first before inking it in. I have to say I like the "unusual" looking people best...they make the cartoon easier to "strike".
